GagaOOLala original series Call It What You Want and Papa & Daddy premiere in Japanese platforms this Friday the 13th

GagaOOLala’s most popular original productions during the first half of 2021, Call It What You Want and Papa & Daddy, will be distributed in Japan by local platforms U-NEXT and Rakuten TV, respectively.

Inspired by real events, Call It What You Want, director Aam Anusorn Soisa follow-up to the worldwide BL hit 2Moons2, is an explosive romantic drama that exposes the dark side of the entertainment industry in Thailand. The series caused the #SafeBL movement on social media to advocate for a safer work environment for actors working in the rising BL industry. All six episodes of season 1 will be available on U-NEXT in Japan on August 13, with the second season releasing at a later date.

On the same day, Rakuten TV is premiering in Japan the first season of another of this year’s GagaOOLala original series: Papa & Daddy. Asia’s first LGBTQ+ family series mixes tropes from the current Asian BL wave with a structure of a traditional romantic comedy. The first 6-episode season, directed by Nancy Chen (HIStory 4), was an audience and critics darling, and GagaOOLala announced in July the series would come back with new episodes in 2022.
